Press Release Body: For many years consumers had little choice about what to put in
that awkward corner base unit in the kitchen. Most of us went for the simple
carousel solution that worked fine for a couple of years and then inevitably stopped
working and fell apart. This resulted in frantic phone calls to the original
installer to be told: "Oh you can't buy them without a kitchen" or "You need to take
the worktop off to fit the replacement" or
"Yes we can sell you one but its £800 (and the whole kitchen was only £2500
including appliances in those days!)".

Luckily we have moved on from those days and there are now a huge range of solutions
most of which are designed to make full use of the space available and also make it
quite simple to access the space right at the back of the cupboard.

Peka, a Swiss company, designed and patented the original magic corner which has
since been copied by many manufacturers throughout the world including the German
company Vauth Sagel. Vauth Sagel's solutions are sometimes preferred for kitchen storage, based on their ease of
fitting and quality of the chrome work on the baskets themselves.

There are two main solutions.

1) Vauth-Sagel - Magic Pull Out Storage Corner Solution With Soft Close
Firstly there is the pull out kitchen storage corner unit that automatically pulls
out with the kitchen cupboard door. The unit can be retro fitted into any kitchen
corner cupboard that meets the following specification:

Door size: 450, 500 or 600mm
Internal Cupboard depth: 490mm minimum
Cupboard width: 900mm minimum
Installed height: 530mm

The 500mm door size is standard with the 450mm and 600mm requiring additional
hanging plates to ensure that the door fits tightly to the unit. Certain companies
may supply free soft close dampers with all the units. Full fitting instructions are
included with each unit.

2) Vauth-Sagel - Twin Pull Out Storage Unit
Secondly there is the Twin which is fantastic as it is very simple to fit and easy
to pull out of the cupboard. This is the ideal solution for an elderly person, (we
recently fitted one for an 83 year old), with high quality chrome work and a simple
to clean solid base to each of the kidney shaped shelves. This unit can be retro
fitted into any kitchen corner cupboard that meets the following specification:

Suitable for 900, 1000 or 1200 mm corner base cabinets
Minimum built in depth: 490 mm

The system is designed so that the pull-out section automatically begins to pivot as
the unit is pulled out of the cabinet.

Every set comes complete with 2 x laminated wooden shelves with a white base and
polished chrome surround, pull-out and pivoting mechanism, all fixing materials and
fitting instructions.
